ORGANISATIONThese full time, advanced professional courses are organized biannually by “Science & Technology International Courses” together with the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), the Utrecht University Medical Center (UUMC), the University of Wageningen, Xendo bv Leiden, University of Rotterdam, and the University of Southern California, Los Angeles CA, USA. All lectures and practicals/demos will be given by experienced scientists from several Universities including the Dutch National Institute of Public Health in Bilthoven, The Dutch Ministry of Healthcare, as well as from various (bio)pharmaceutical Industries: Shering-Plough, N.V. Oss, Solvay Weesp, Applikon bv, Genmab bv Utrecht, Invitrogen-Life Technologies, Crucell bv, BIOCULT bv, Sartorius Stedim biotech, Pharma Bio-Research Group bv Zuid-Laren, Xendo bv Leiden, Merck KGaA Darmstadt, Pharmaceutical Advice- Consultancy Services. Science and Technology International Courses combines the strengths of these Institutes, their interests in multidisciplinary educational programs for postgraduates (and) or in biotechnological research and products. The focuss is on the development, engineering and applications of (mammalian) cell derived proteins, as well as on clinical applications of cells and cell-derived products. Science and Technology International Courses is supported by the Dutch Government. The “Advanced Cell Culture course” and “cGMP” course will be held at the NH
Conference Center Leeuwenhorst in Noordwijkerhout and partially at The Leiden
University Medical Center and BioScience Parc. Leiden is centrally located in the
Netherlands, about 20 minutes from Amsterdam/ Schiphol airport (by train or
taxi). During the course, excursions will be made to Biocult and to the LUMC-GMP
facilities in Leiden. OTHER COURSES WILL BE ORGANIZED IN 2010 ON
